There is a sweet little Mediterranean restaurant, called La Fendee on lower Westheimer, at the corner of Yupon and Westheimer, just a hop, skip and a jump from my apartment, of course.
They have a lovely patio area, which was perfect for today's weather, sunny, mild and cloudless.
Today, I had La Fendee's lunch special chicken shawarma, fries and a soda for $6.99.
Chicken shawarma is a grilled chicken marinaded overnight in garlic, curry, pepper, lemon and olive oil served on pita bread. This "sandwich" is accompanied by tzatziki sauce, tomatoes, parsley and dill pickles. Quite a nice combinations of flavors. They also serve kabobs, falafel, soups, hummus, baba ghanooj, salads, fresh squeezed juices. It is a BYOB. The portions are very generous and tasty, too. Often I have stopped by La Fendee on my way to a dinner party and picked up hummus or baba ghanooj. Both dishes are well prepared and makes me look like a genius for being able to take something so good. I know there are other Mediterranean restaurants in the neighborhood, but La Fendee has such a nice vibe and great food and comfortable seating.
